Harper's Ferry

Harper's Ferry is a Black Diamond run at Snowbird. My eight-year-old daughter beat me down it today. She and I are perfectly matched ski partners, now; which means that, by the end of the winter, I'll be eating her dust. Already, it's, "C'mon, Mom! Let's go in the trees! Let's ski the bumps!" Give me strength.

LOL! I fall down mountains.

We have the REAL Harper's Ferry nearby. LOVELY historical and beautiful area. Gotta get back out there some time with the kids...when it's a little warmer.

I have never been snow skiing and neither has Liv. This needs to be fixed. I already know she will beat the pants off of me. We went ice skating already and she was doing jumps and figure eights while I was just trying to remain upright.

She doesn't get those athletic genes from me.

Hi Kate! Just got your Christmas letter and decided to check out your blog.

How do you find time to write Christmas letters (even if a few weeks late), write a blog regularly, work, and take care of 2 adorable Munchkins? You're amazing.

It looks like we are stuck in Tucson for the forseeable future... and I'm not too thrilled about that. But the move to SLC is a no-go.

oh I can't wait to try out snow skiing and snowboarding. I bet Maku can beat me in both.

Gotta get Chris on skis, too. Haven't done that yet. I am a great bunny slope skier. Chris would have me beat in no time. I am impressed that your 8 year old can ski black diamond hills and wants the moguls!

I am so with you. I have been musing on this exact same idea so much lately as we are skiing down our Colorado slopes-that these are the glory years, with a 1st and 3rd grader, when, for the last time, we are "even". I see it plain as day, and plan on enjoying it. My 8-year-old son beat my best time on the NASTAR giant slalom last weekend, not by hundredths, but by two whole fucking seconds! It was the first time he has ever bested me. It's the beginning of the end........
